Team canvas

What is it?

The Team Canvas is a template that allows a team to go through and analyze their structure to see if there is any room for improvement.

When to use

The Team Canvas should be used when teams need some help with alignment. Going through each step in the Canvas will help ensure that the team can work together more effectively towards the common goal.

How to use

Double click to change the text for the title or date.
Add your ideas on a note by clicking on the blue + button in the upper right corner of the section you would like to add a note.
Understanding the Sections
- People & Roles
  - Clarify roles and titles of the team members
- Common Goals
  - Discuss and write common goals of what you want to achieve as a group
  - Try to figure out which of these common goals is the most important
- Personal Goals
  - Ask team members about individual goals and have each member add a few to this section
- Purpose
  - Figure out what the purpose is behind the common goal: Why are we doing this in the first place? What makes us pursue this goal?
- Values
  - As a team, discuss what the core values are and what aspects you want to be known for on a wider scale. What do you stand for?
- Needs & Expectations
  - Discuss what you are missing. What things do you need to be successful and how can the team help supplement those?
- Rules & Activities
  - Agree on common rules and activities to work towards satisfying the future requirements. How should you communicate and make decisions? How should you evaluate your progress?
- Strengths & Assets
  - Discuss the key skills and assets available within the team. Team members should add these aspects about themselves and what they have noticed from other members of the team
- Weaknesses & Risks
  - Discuss the weaknesses and risks of the team. What areas can individuals improve and what needs to be improved for the team? What obstacles are you likely to face?
