2×2 Prioritization Matrix

What is it?

The 2×2 Prioritization Matrix is used by teams that want to organize their tasks based on their levels of importance. It allows groups to create a more detailed to-do list that will be most effective for the team.

When to use

The 2×2 Prioritization Matrix template is used to summarize and visually illustrate the most important tasks at hand for a team.  Use this grid when determining which tasks need focus and which can be done at a later time.

How to use

  • Each team member will have a video stream on the left side of the screen.
  • Add your tasks on a note by clicking on the white + button in the bottom left corner of the chart and clicking on which section you would like to place the note in.
  • Understanding each section
    • Judge your tasks based on the amount of time they take to complete and the value they bring to the team.
    • After placing each task into a section, here is how to judge what should come first
      • Least time, Most value: These should be done first as they would be fast to achieve and would bring the most value to the team
      • Most time, Most value: These should be done next to help boost the value of the team
      • Least time, Least value: These tasks should be done last in the list as they do not bring much value to the team
      • Most time, Least value: Reevaluate whether or not these tasks should be done.  For the amount of time needed and the added value to the team, these tasks may be worth dropping from the list to-do list
